The verdict on how Nottingham Forest players rate so far this season

With almost a third of the league season gone, Nottingham Forest currently find themselves well placed in the Championship table.

It has been a good start by Sabri Lamouchi’s Reds, who went into the current international break in fifth place, five points off leaders West Bromwich Albion.

And there have been some impressive performances so far from those in the Garibaldi.

We give our verdict on how each player has done up until now - and you can have your say at the bottom of the story, in our ratings widget.

Goalkeepers

Brice Samba: Firmly established as first-choice now and has made a difference since coming into the starting line-up. Calm and assured, he is also comfortable with the ball at his feet and has made some terrific saves. Rating: 8/10

Aro Muric: A player with potential, but was prone to the odd error. That proved costly, and he has since lost his place between the posts to the more experienced Samba. Rating: 5/10

Defenders

Yuri Ribeiro: Has settled in really well and proved capable of playing at left-back or further up the pitch. Tends to be more effective as the former, with his attacking instinct offering a useful outlet - as well as being solid defensively. Rating: 8/10

Tobias Figueiredo: Had to wait for his chance, and still finds himself in and out of the team somewhat. Not quite been the rock he was last season but generally solid enough. Rating: 6/10

Joe Worrall: Been a key figure in the heart of the defence, and will continue to improve. Has made great strides following his loan spell last year, while his leadership and passion has never been in doubt. Rating: 8/10

Carl Jenkinson: Injury intervened before his season really got started. However, the former Arsenal right-back looked decent in his first few games for the club. Rating: 6/10

Jack Robinson: Has been a little bit up and down at times, and finds himself up against some tough competition in Ribeiro. Needs to get back to the level of consistency he is capable of. Rating: 6/10

Micheal Dawson: Had been superb before injury stopped him in his tracks. Partnership with Worrall had been the cornerstone to a solid start from the Reds and he has been missed while sidelined with a calf problem. Rating: 8/10

Chema: Get the impression there is still a lot more to come from the summer signing. Hasn’t quite yet established himself as a regular, but has put in some decent performances nevertheless. Rating: 6/10

Matty Cash: Now looking very much at home in the right-back spot. The academy product has taken to his new role with ease and consistently been one of the best performers in the team. Rating: 8/10

Midfielders

Ben Watson: One of the outstanding performers so far. Has been transformed under Sabri Lamouchi and is now one of the first names on the team-sheet. Referred to as the “brains of the team” by the manager, but has also popped up with a couple of crucial goals. Rating: 8/10

Joao Carvalho: Missing out on the majority of pre-season due to a serious injury left the Portuguese playing catch-up. Still yet to hit top form, but remains capable of moments of magic when he does get going. Rating: 6/10

John Bostock: Made a difference when he came on at Charlton Athletic, but has struggled to get much of a look-in since then. Still yet to really show what he can do. Rating: 5/10

Alfa Semedo: Had looked good in his first nine appearances for the club. Has not featured since September, though, due to injury. Plenty more to come from the Espanyol loanee. Rating: 7/10

Samba Sow: What a revelation the Mali international has been. You’d never have guessed this is his first experience of English football. The Reds will be glad to have him back from injury soon. Rating: 8/10

Ryan Yates: Made a welcome return last month and has been easing his way back into action. Looked bright in the few games he has played. Rating: 7/10

Joe Lolley: The best is yet to come from Forest’s reigning Player of the Year. Not quite terrorised defences in the way he did so often last season, but has nevertheless played an important role and always works tirelessly. Rating: 7/10

Lewis Grabban (centre) celebrates giving his side a 1-0 lead alongside Matty Cash and Ryan Yates (Joseph Raynor/ Nottingham Post)

Tiago Silva: Lamouchi’s first signing has got better and better as the campaign has gone on. Culminating in a sterling showing against Derby County at the weekend. Hopefully he continues on this upward curve. Rating: 7/10

Sammy Ameobi: Has been a useful attacking outlet for the Reds and can have a real impact on games. Wasn’t the only one to suffer a dip in form during those successive defeats, but responded with a well-taken strike at Luton Town. Will be looking to add more goals in the coming months. Rating: 7/10

Albert Adomah: Proved to be a super sub on more than one occasion and is one of the biggest characters in the dressing room. A useful player to have in the squad. Rating: 7/10

Brennan Johnson: A young man who looks to have a very bright future ahead of him. We’ve only seen glimpses so far, but just being around the first-team will benefit the teenager. Rating: 7/10

Strikers

Lewis Grabban: Now part of a special club after scoring the winner against the Rams. Works his socks off whenever he’s on the pitch and keeps banging in the goals. Rating: 8/10

Rafa Mir: The Wolves loanee desperately needs a goal to get him going. Looks like he could have something about him, but hasn’t really convinced so far. Rating: 5/10
