A regal affair at Emporium, EmQuartier

To mark the auspicious occasion of the upcoming royal coronation of HM King Maha Vajiralongkorn Bodindradebayavarangkun, the Emporium and EmQuartier are holding an exhibition titled "Under His Peaceful Reign, Praise The King" at the Emporium Gallery, M floor of Emporium, from today until May 12.

On display are 10 pieces exclusively created in honour of the new King of Thailand by five veteran artists, each of whom has an extensive background in the country's art scene and is reputed for their unique style and individual technique.

Ajarn Amarit Chusuwan utilises the colour-gradient technique in his two mixed-media works, The Unity and The Sovereign, to reflect that His Majesty is the spiritual centre for all Thais who will lead the country to prosperity.

Sakwut Wisesmanee chose to record the royal transition through two portraits, both titled HM King Rama X. The first is a charcoal drawing showing HM sitting in a comfortable posture and the other is a painting of acrylic, chalk and watercolour.

Inspired by HM's strength and bravery as a contemporary military leader, Jitsing Somboon employed a laser-cut technique on wood and paper to give a fascinating multidimensional look to his two works, both titled The Contemporary Master.

To reflect his loyalty to HM, Lik Sriprasert presents two mixed-media works, both titled Song-Phra-Charoen, that use gold and mirror as the major materials to signify the brightness and peacefulness rendered by HM to all Thais.

Lastly, Chalit Nakpawan expresses the loyalty, respect and love he has for HM through two mixed-media works that feature gold leaf and fabric on embossed wooden squares of various sizes.

Visitors are also invited to sign a book to wish the new King well at the two shopping malls from May 4-6 and join a candle-lighting ceremony to bless HM, which will take place at the Quartier Parc, M floor of EmQuartier, on May 6 at 7pm.
