Following almost a full year of anticipation, The Traitors Australia is returning to screens bigger, better and more star-studded than ever before.
The new season features 22 of Australia’s most infamous reality stars — from The Bachelor and MAFS contestants to Australian Survivor and Big Brother legends — as they play the ultimate game of deception and betrayal for the chance to win up to $250,000.
While the new season officially kicks off on Tuesday night, the first episode dropped early on 10 Streaming and YouTube over the weekend and fans are already obsessed.

The Traitors fans shocked by major twist
The new season began with a major twist for the reality TV franchise, as one contestant got kicked off the show before even setting foot inside the manor.
After being voted by her co-stars as the “most virtuous” player in the game, Olympian and Australian Survivor winner Shane Gould was tasked with either eliminating herself or choosing another reality star to leave the game because there were too many players.
The gold medallist quickly decided that she would be eliminating someone else, and spun around in circles until she “randomly” landed on none other than MAFS groom Cam Merchant.
“Cam, I’m sorry to say so early in the piece, please leave immediately,” host Gretel Killeen announced, not even 20 minutes into the episode.
“That is brutal,” Alex Nation remarked, while another player called it “an emotional rollercoaster”.
Perhaps the most ironic part of the twist was that Cam was initially chosen as the most virtuous player before his co-stars (who clearly hadn’t watched Shane’s savage gameplay on Survivor) changed their minds and voted for the unassuming 69-year-old.
Fans go wild for new season
The wild moment has already caused quite a stir on social media, and although many viewers have declared that Shane made a “terrible choice” — arguing that she should’ve taken out a big threat or chosen one of the twins, Luke or Josh Packham — some fans are optimistic this won’t be the last time we see Cam in the game.
“I’m 99 per cent sure Cam will be back though,” one person commented, followed by someone else who said, “Cam has got to be back for sure”.
Meanwhile, fans have already declared that the new season is “the best instalment of the franchise” and they cannot wait for more.
“The cast, Gretel, everything. It’s fab,” a fan remarked.
“IT’S SO CAMP I’M DECEASED,” another added, while a third said, “Fantastic premiere imo, so glad we’re back”.
The new season airs Tuesday and Wednesday at 7:30pm on 10, so let the games begin.
