Nottingham Forest moved just one point behind Leeds United and the Championship's top-two after a stirring win at the City Ground.
Sabri Lamouchi's side came into the game, knowing a win could reignite their automatic promotion hopes, while serving another dent to Leeds' own aspirations.
In front of a raucous Forest crowd, goals from Sammy Ameobi and Tyler Walker gave them all three points.
With the Reds kicking off at 5.30pm, they already knew what their promotion rivals had done and they had received few favours.
Preston won in the early kick-off, whilst wins for Brentford and Fulham left the top six looking extremely congested.
But Forest took care of their own business and now are just two points off the top spot, with a game against front-runners West Brom next weekend.
With 15 games to go, they are now firmly in the promotion race and know that by this next time week, they could find themselves in pole position for a return to the Premier League, at long last.
Forest reporter Sarah Clapson summed up her feelings on what was 'a statement' win against Leeds. Watch the video in full at the top of the page.
