'A real problem' - Gary Neville sends Liverpool warning after 'exceptional' Chelsea and Man City claim

Gary Neville has issued a warning to Liverpool over why they might struggle to keep up with their Premier League rivals in the title race.

The Reds claimed a 4-0 win over Arsenal on Saturday night to move temporarily up to second place, but Manchester City’s victory over Everton saw them drop to third.

Chelsea are still leaders and have a three-point gap over second-placed City, and are four ahead of Liverpool after 12 matches.

Liverpool have already faced both Man City and Chelsea at home this season, picking up a draw in each of those games.

Neville believes that Liverpool have the best starting line-up in the Premier League, and has labelled them a “great side”.

However, Neville believes that given their lack of “investment power”. Liverpool aren’t as well-equipped as their nearest rivals to win the Premier League title.

“I think it’s most difficult for Liverpool because they are so finely tuned, the other two have bigger and better squads,” he said, speaking on the Sky Sports Gary Neville podcast.

“Liverpool, I said earlier on in the season, I think have the best eleven. That doesn’t change, but if two or three of those go missing then it does cause a real problem.

“What Liverpool will want is to be within a point or two with four, five or six games to go, with the history, tradition and Jurgen Klopp’s energy. Then I think they’ll become really dangerous.

“To get there would be a bigger struggle for them than it would be for Chelsea and Man City.

“They’re in there at the moment and they’re a great side, but they haven’t got the investment power of City and Chelsea, and the depth of squad.

“You see what the bench was today (Man City vs Everton) and the bench at Chelsea, they’re just exceptional squads in any season in any era.”
