A woman says she invited a man home after a successful date. However, he discovers something she left on the bathroom mirror that makes him leave immediately.
In a video with over 84,000 views, TikToker Hanna Dickinson (@hanna.dickinson) says her date asked to use her bathroom as soon as they entered her place.
“When he comes out, immediately he’s like, ‘I have to go home,'” she recounts. “I go into my bathroom to investigate because I’m thinking I left a huge [expletive] in the toilet. And then I see my bathroom mirror.”
What was on her bathroom mirror?
Dickinson shows her bathroom mirror, which is covered in affirmation sticky notes. The notes read, “You will find love!” “You do have a fat a–!” and “Your soulmate is around the corner!”
“Oh, my affirmations. I did not take them down,” she says. “So if that was my soulmate, he is not just around the corner. He is halfway uptown by now.”
She tells other women to keep writing affirmations, but remember to take them down before inviting a date home.
“You may deserve love. But you’re certainly not going to get it from a guy who finds your self-esteem cheat sheet,” she says.
How did viewers react to her affirmations?
In the comments, viewers encourage Dickinson to keep writing her affirmations. Some suggest that his aversion to the confidence-boosting notes was a red flag.
“Hear me out… if these scared him off then they’re quite literally working by forcing out someone who is NOT your soulmate. W,” one writes.
“Nah if he can’t vibe with your affirmations he ain’t the one. You want a man. Not a man child,” another says.
“Sounds you had a lucky escape. You shouldn’t take anything like that down!” a third adds.
“I think you dodged a bullet there. Leaving affirmations up may be the best dating litmus test you could apply tbh,” a fourth suggests.
Men in the comments assure Dickinson that many wouldn’t find her mirror affirmations weird.
“I woulda thought it was cute. Leave them up,” a commenter says.
“As a man, there is literally nothing wrong with those affirmations. In fact they are all green flags!! Keep the up,” another writes.
“If he got scared off by someone working on their self – empowerment and self-esteem, that’s on him. The right person will see your strength and add affirmations about you on their own,” a third remarks.
Others joke about the man’s reaction when first spotting the affirmations.
“I feel like it would have been really funny if after a while he was still in the bathroom and you found him looking in the mirror and reciting your affirmations as if they were his own,” one jokes.
