'A real joy to watch' - Oxford boss raves about performance of Nottingham Forest youngster

Marcus McGuane’s performance for Oxford United in their 1-0 friendly win over QPR drew special praise from boss Karl Robinson.

The former Barcelona youngster played a starring role on his first start at the Kassam Stadium on Saturday, as he looks to settle himself during his season-long loan move from Nottingham Forest.

United saw off Rangers, managed by ex-Forest boss Mark Warburton playing their first game since losing star man Ebere Eze who moved across London to Crystal Palace last week in a £16m deal, thanks to a 63rd minute goal from Matty Taylor.

“There were some really good performances," Robinson told oufc.co.uk.

"I thought Marcus was just a power house in there.

“He oozes so much power and pace, he was a real joy to watch.

“We’re still lacking in my view, I know where we need to be better. It was a really, really pleasing game.

“I think they were pleased with it as well. There were two teams which were quite evenly matched, quite intense in the way they played off our shape.

“It was as close to a real game as you’re going to get and that was really pleasing for us.”

Meanwhile, speculation continues to mount surrounding the future of reported Forest target Rob Dickie.

The defender was left out of the QPR game, although he was at the Kassam Stadium, with the club refusing to reveal details about his absence.
