A range of exotic street food stalls are arriving at Leeds Kirkgate Market

People are being urged to head down to Leeds Kirkgate Market and treat themselves to some of the new exotic street food that's on offer.

Dozens of stalls have been serving mouth-watering meals at the market for years, but food lovers can now sink their teeth into tasty Mexican and Colombian dishes.

Casa Mexica opened with a flurry of free burritos earlier this month and are now offering an array of authentic Mexican street food.

They have fillings to cater for all, offering a range of halal, vegan and vegetarian options.

The stall, which is in the 1904 hall by the Vicar Lane entrance, is next to Kanassa Kitchen, which opened a day later.

Run by Leeds sisters Anna and Beth, it serves a range of Colombian-inspired street food with a unique twist.

Most of the menu is vegan and it features the hugely popular Colombia brunch, as well as Guava Ceviche on fresh sourdough toast and sweet potato and coconut curry.

Those stalls will soon be joined in the market by the famous Fisherman's Wife chippy, which is moving from George Street to inside the market in September.

Cargo Crepes is also preparing to set up shop in the market and serve sweet treats, such as crepes, a hearty galette and vegan and gluten free fluffy pancakes.

Cllr Asghar Khan, Leeds City Council's deputy executive member with responsibility for markets, said: "We are thrilled with the amount of new traders seeing Leeds Kirkgate Market as the place to start up a new food business.

"Our market is a hub for food lovers, from the wide variety of fresh ingredients to the expanse of exciting street food and the new traders will increase the choice people have when visiting our market kitchen."
