'A pumpkin is a peapag!' Scot creates brilliant guide to Halloween words in Gaelic

Did you know that the Gaelic for pumpkin is peapag?

No, neither did we but thanks to a brilliant clip by TikTok user the Hebridean Baker we do now.

The clip, posted on his account is titled 'A Scottish Gaelic lesson on Halloween' and offers translations and pronunciations on words associated with the spookiest time of year.

The video, which features a cute West Highland White Terrier, is set to music from Harry Potter.

The bearded baker then explains how to say words like ghost (taibhs), witch (bana-bhuidseach) and monster (uilebheist).

And of course he also explains how to say Halloween, which is Oidhche Shamhna.

As well his Gaelic lessons, the self proclaimed 'beardy baking viking from the Outer Hebrides' also offers tips on baking (hence the name), clips of his trips around his island home on South Uist and fun clips with his pet Westie Seoras.
