'A proposal' - Derby County favourite claims he rejected Nottingham Forest

Former Derby County favourite Grzegorz Rasiak claims he once turned down "a proposal" from Nottingham Forest because of his allegiances to the Rams.

The ex-Poland international striker spent one season with Derby - the 2004/05 campaign - and became a hero of their fans by scoring four goals in two matches against the Reds.

He helped to inflict a 3-0 defeat on Forest at Pride Park in December 2004 and then hit a double in a 2-2 draw at the City Ground in February 2005.

After scoring 18 goals in 41 league games for the Rams, he left to join Spurs in the Premier League - and went on to play for Southampton, Bolton, Watford and Reading in English football.

And he has told The Athletic, Forest once tried to sign him.

“I had a proposal from Nottingham Forest but I rejected it because of my allegiances to Derby," he said.
