Eat Me has been a Bangkok favourite for more than two decades and has never disappointed even the most discerning palates.
Chico Bay oyster.
With an extensive menu, co-owner and executive chef Tim Butler's bottomless repertoire of dishes shines through with every new creation. New on the menu, the Chico Bay oysters (B1,100) are served with Champagne granita and a red wine mignonette for six oysters. Best washed down with a glass of Louis Roederer sparkling brut rosé (B590 a glass).
If oysters aren't your thing, I strongly suggest ordering the Grilled abalone + plankton rice, which is sold by weight. (50g for B950, 100g B1,820 and 200g for B3,550). Served in its shell, the abalone is mixed with capers, butter and lemon -- yum!
I love love uni or sea urchin and can't get enough of it. I was so glad to see it on the menu -- Sea urchin bruschetta (B1,500), served with tomato salsa, serrano ham and crisp nori. One of my favourites! From the Vegetables + Salads, the new main addition is the Smoked Hen Of The Woods mushroom (B650). Served on white bean purée, thyme and a hazelnut salad, if you are a shroom head, this is it!
Meatheads take note of the Grilled veal tongue (B690). Served with black garlic aioli for that buttery sweetness, kimchi and green apple, the dish is everything tongue should be, soft, smooth and delicious. The Japanese Ohmi wagyu A5 tataki (B75g for B 1,150, 100g for B1,500 and 200g for B2,900) is worth every gramme and baht you're going to spend on it. Served with a smear of ponzu miso and grated fresh wasabi on top, it melts in your mouth and will make you crave more.
Unknown to many, known to some is the fact that chef Butler was perhaps the first chef to put bone marrow on a restaurant menu in Bangkok. Served with kaffir lime, basil and coriander, The Red curry oxtail + Bone Marrow (B1,050) is a dish that has to be shared because of its sheer richness. I am salivating as I type, it is that mouthwateringly delicious. An Eat Me crowd favourite!
The only way to end a meal at Eat Me would be to order the Sticky date pudding with vanilla ice cream. Sticky as advertised, fluffy and moist… om nom nom.
