'A problem' - Kamil Grosicki breaks silence on Nottingham Forest saga

West Brom winger Kamil Grosicki felt "there was a problem" right from the start of his proposed switch to Nottingham Forest as he finally broke his silence at seeing his move to the City Ground fall apart.

The Polish international winger was denied a move to the City Ground last week when an EFL panel ruled that his transfer from West Brom would not proceed because Forest had filed the paperwork 21 seconds late on deadline day.

It is the second time the Reds have missed out on the former Hull winger who had been a transfer target for the Reds last January but were beaten to his signature by the Baggies.

And in an interview with sportowefakty.wp, Grosicki said he had a feeling the deal would not happen.

"Right from the start, I felt there was a problem and that the transfer would most likely not work out," he said.

"If you are late for the train half a minute and it leaves, you will not get on it.

"I just don't know why I waited so long to hear "no".

"The justification came that the transfer did not come out because it was carried out too late. About 21 seconds.

"I signed my contract with Nottingham Forest five minutes before the window closed, exactly at 4:55 PM.  There were no complications on my part. I don't know who was at fault later or who made the mistake."

Grosicki said that he did not want to leave West Brom, but said limited minutes on the pitch could affect his international ambitions with  Poland.

"After returning from the October grouping of the Polish national team, on the last day of the transfer window, I found out from the club that we have a large team and there may not be enough space for me.

"More specifically: that I will probably not be entered into the tournament.

"I told the sports director that I wanted to fight for my chance in the Premier League and I didn't mind a transfer.

"Hours flew by and I began to think about the future.

"Not playing in the WBA would complicate my situation in the national team, and soon the European Championships.

"Nottingham Forest had expressed its first interest six weeks earlier, so we and the manager renewed the topic.

"I didn't smile to leave, but on the other hand Nottingham fought a lot for me, which would have to do with playing regularly for this club. They also offered an excellent contract.

"They fought a lot for me in Nottingham, I will definitely keep my fingers crossed for them this season."
