A Poni Adventure Special Research tasks in Pokémon GO

You’ve already been able to visit the three islands of Mele-Mele, Akala, and Ula-Ula as part of the Alola adventures in Pokémon GO, and now it’s Poni’s turn. As usual, a Special Research Story, available from Tuesday, May 10, 2022, at 10 a.m. local time, will guide you through the flora and fauna of the island. In parallel, Tapu Fini, patron saint of Poni, debuts as a boss of the level 5 raids in the game.

Complete all four island adventures by June 1, 2022, when the Season of Alola ends, and you’ll gain free access to another Special Research Story. If you don’t manage to complete the four quest lines by then, you’ll have to buy access in the form of a ticket with real money. This final mission may lead you to Aether Paradise, the center island of Alola. First, though, A Poni Adventure awaits you with these tasks and rewards.

A Poni Adventure tasks and rewards in Pokémon GO

A Poni Adventure – Step 1 of 4

  • Catch 10 Pokémon: 10 PokeBalls
  • Power up Pokémon 5 times: 5 Razz Berries
  • Defeat 2 Team GO Rocket Grunts: 3 Hyper Potions
  • Complete this step: 500 XP, 500 Stardust, and Alolan Raticate encounter

A Poni Adventure – Step 2 of 4

  • Catch 3 Water-type Pokémon: Tentacruel encounter
  • Take a snapshot of a Water-type Pokémon: Wailmer encounter
  • Use 5 berries to help catch Pokémon: Wingull encounter
  • Complete this step: 500 XP, 500 Stardust, and a Fast TM

A Poni Adventure – Step 3 of 4

  • Walk 2 Kilometers: Miltank encounter
  • Catch 15 Pokémon: 10 Great Balls
  • Spin 5 PokéStops or Gyms: Stufful encounter
  • Complete this step: 1,000 XP, 1,000 Stardust, and a Premium Battle Pass

A Poni Adventure – Step 4 of 4

  • Send 5 gifts to friends: 10 Great Balls
  • Catch 15 Pokémon: 7 Pinap Berries
  • Win a raid: Alolan Exeggutor encounter
  • Complete this step: 8,000 XP, 3,000 Stardust, and 15 Ultra Balls

Note that in the snapshot task of the second step, you must take a photo of an already caught Water Pokémon for it to count as completed. A snapshot of a wild Pokémon does not count for this purpose. It may also be smart to hold off on this phase of research, which revolves around Water-types, until the start of the Water Festival on Thursday, May 12, 2022. The event will feature a time-limited research focused on catching Pokémon, so it’s possible you’ll be able to solve two quest lines in one fell swoop by saving the second step’s encounters until then.
