'A point you'd have taken at 3pm' - how Nottingham Forest can be pleased with Bristol City draw

Nottingham Forest kept their place in the Championship’s top six with a battling 0-0 draw at play-off rivals Bristol City.

Ryan Yates’ sending off in the second half saw Sabri Lamouchi’s men forced to defend valiantly in the closing stages, although the hosts failed to have a single shot on Brice Samba’s goal.

It could have been very different early in the first half as Yates saw a shot cleared off the Robins line, before Joe Lolley’s curling effort was palmed away by Daniel Bentley.

In the second period, Yates deflected an effort onto his own post before he was given a straight red card by referee Craig Pawson for a two-footed lunge on Adam Nagy.

Given how Forest returned after the last international break to lose at Wigan, Lamouchi can be heartened by Forest’s display at Ashton Gate.

After the game, Sarah Clapson and Barry Cooper reflected on a well-earned point by the Reds.
