A Place in the Sun star left unconscious and battered after stolen moped smash

A Place in the Sun star Danni Menzies was left with shocking facial injuries after being hit by a stolen moped near her London home.

The 35-year-old TV presenter revealed she was “taken out” by the vehicle as thieves tried to make it off with earlier this month.

But the bumbling robbers lost control of the moped as it was travelling at around 30mph and it ploughed into Danni outside a newsagents in Battersea – knocking her unconscious.

Now photos of her shocking injuries have emerged, showing the telly star covered in blood and with cuts to her lip and forehead.

Her nose is also badly swollen in the pictures and is one picture she is seen with on a stretcher with her head in a headrest as she is taken to hospital.

Danni was so shaken up by the incident she told fans she was taking a break from social media to recover.

Taking to her Instagram stories to explain what happened, she said: "Sooooo…. On Saturday I was taken out (on the pavement!) by a stolen moped that lost control.

"Didn’t see it coming and it’s not looking pretty right now tbh.

"I’m sure I will be fine in a few weeks but in the meantime I will be a wee bit quiet on here."

Danni has been recovering at home, but the incident has reportedly left her with post-traumatic stress disorder and post-traumatic vertigo - dizziness patients can suffer after sustaining a neck or head injury.

Pals of the TV star claim she is still in shock a week on and is now “fearful to leave the house”.

A source told MailOnline : “She’s had a truly horrible experience. No one expects to be knocked unconscious while shopping at their local newsagent and the accident has left Danni in shock and fearful to leave the house.

“She’s taking time at home and her mum is by her side – but it’s been a scary ordeal.

“All she hopes now is to regain her confidence, take time offline to recover and for her facial wounds to completely heal.”

The Mirror has reached out to Danni's reps for comment.

The traumatic incident comes shortly after Danni’s announcement she will step down from her role on A Place in the Sun, after six years on the long-running Channel 4 property series.

The Scottish star was a popular addition to the programme when she first appeared on screen back in 2016, but has decided to pursue projects closer to home.

She will appear on the show for at least another year before she bids farewell to viewers for the final time, as the popular series films multiple episodes well in advance.

But it was revealed Danni has already landed a new TV job and is currently filing MTV and Channel 5’s tough new reality show The Challenge.

The show is based on the US show of the same name and sees celebrity contestants battle it out to win the grand prize money.

The Mirror revealed in August that stars lined up to appear on the show include TOWIE’s Joey Essex, James Lock and Ella Mae Wise.

Former Geordie Shore lad Nathan Henry and Love Island stars Curtis Pritchard and AJ Bunker are also rumoured to have been signed up, while Mark Wright is also set to host.
