A Place In The Sun's Laura Hamilton shut down by couple as she tells them to be 'realistic'

Laura Hamilton was shut down by a couple on A Place In The Sun as she told them they needed to be "realistic" about their property search.

The presenter, 39, was helping Simon and Sarah find their ideal holiday home in Fuerteventura with a pool, a view and two bedrooms with a budget of £200,000.

However the couple were not prepared to increase their budget when asked if there was any "wriggle room".

She told them: "I'll show you the best options and as close to what we can get with your budget.

"But I do need you to be realistic."

Simon, who recently retired, responded: "What we are talking about is our ideal property.

"We recognise that we would have to have compromises.

"And I am sure you will come up with the compromises then we will have to decide which ones we prefer and which we don't."

Sarah then told the presenter: "Laura, if it was easy, we would have found it ourselves and we wouldn't have needed your help."

They were not successful in getting their dream home (Channel 4)

The couple were ready to purchase their dream home in the sun after Simon's retirement.

Laura told Simon and Sarah that the facilities they are after "come at a price... and a premium price", as she insisted: "I made it clear from the start that you weren't going to be able to have everything."

Simon answered: "We weren't expecting that, we told you from the beginning that was our ideal. We are able to make compromises, but the compromises so far aren't there for us to make."

Fortunately, the couple ended up liking property number four, but their offer of £190,000 was not accepted.
