A Place In The Sun's Jonnie fumes as couple slam kitchen as 'oven in living room'

A Place In The Sun's Jonnie Irwin served up sarcasm for a choosy couple who branded the kitchen only "an oven in the living room".

The long-serving TV host was tasked with finding Teresa and Robin an apartment within their budget of £120,000, in sunny Tenerife during Tuesday's repeat episode.

They set their hearts on finding the dream holiday home where they could retire to in the future so the pressure was on.

Having already been on holiday to Tenerife six times in the past, the couple were confident it was the right destination for their idyllic holiday home.

But the search didn't go according to plan when the pair turned their nose up at one of the five properties Jonnie wanted to show off.

The presenter had cherry picked a €127,000 (£109,000) one-bedroom flat in Adeje which he felt catered to all their needs.

Barely giving the holiday flat a chance, Teresa immediately ruled out the place because of its small kitchen.

Jonnie said: "OK so open-plan this time in the living space, what say you?"

"Kitchen is too small for me," Teresa said.

With sarcasm, Jonnie replied: "Oh good. How big do you need the kitchen to be?"

The kitchen only had an oven, sink and one food preparation surface crammed into a tiny space in the open plan living room — or as the couple described it as "an oven in a living room".

Robin said: "It's an oven in a living room, not a kitchen."

He added: "It’s just the kitchen that is letting us down."

Quickly it was obvious this wasn't the right choice for the couple who love spending time cooking.

Jonnie asked: "Look it’s a small apartment, could you put up with that kind of compromise?"

"I don’t know how you could prepare anything there," Teresa said.

The apartment boasted of a sea view balcony with incredible views but it wasn't enough to win over the couple.

Teresa admitted: "Wow. It’s absolutely perfect."

Baffled Jonnie had no choice but to take the couple north of the island where they will get more for their money.
