A Place in the Sun participants have offer refused on Channel 4 show after 'ripping' into villa

Host of A Place in the Sun Laura Hamilton has been left feeling mortified after she admitted a property chosen for a pair of potential buyers ended up being "disastrous".

On Tuesday evening's episode, Laura was joined by Ginny and Tony on the Mani Peninsula in Greece, the Liverpool Echo also reported.

The duo have plans to find a home to retire comfortably in, and had an extensive budget of £230,000.

Tony had stated he wanted a place with a pool, a private parking space and somewhere "quite English" - in Greece!

But Laura's first pick of the properties did not go down well with Tony, as the home didn't have a pool.

With three bedrooms, and a hop, skip and jump from the beach, it was a reasonable property, however Tony saw it immediately as a non-starter.

He said: "I don’t see myself living here. It doesn't feel like a home. It just feels a bit soulless to me".

The couple also didn't like the traditional feel of the home, with exposed beams and stonework - and Laura admitted to viewers as they departed that the first viewing had been a disaster.

The next property was 'too dark' according to the couple, but they eventually settled on home number four, valued at £265,765 at the time, and put an offer in.

Property number four was a three-bedroom apartment in need of some electrical work, but with a large terrace, sea views and a swimming pool.

However, the offer Tony and Ginny put in of 10 per cent under the asking price was not accepted, and they scarpered back to the UK.

A Place in the Sun airs weekdays at 3pm on Channel 4 and All 4.
