A Place In The Sun house-hunter was left crying tears of joy as host Jasmine Harman helped her find her dream home.
Catherine and Patrick from Leeds were looking to relocate to the Greek island of Crete with their two teenage sons and a budget of £150,000.
Jasmine had a tall order finding the couple’s dream property, which they insisted must include a pool, on the Channel 4 property series.
Unfortunately, the first home proved to be a dud for Catherine off the bat with its lack of pool – but Jasmine levelled up their expectations when she showed them a two-bed bungalow in Vouves.
The property boasted jaw-dropping views and most importantly a pool. However, the home’s steep access and small living space was an instant turn-off for Patrick.
Patrick said, "I need to be honest this is a lot smaller than our place back home” while Catherine was more positive and shared: "The pool looks lovely, it’s a good size - I could see myself here."
Asking the big questions, Channel 4 presenter Jasmine wondered: "Do you think in a few years your boys will be ready to fly the nest?"
To which Catherine answered: "We know it’s going to happen, and this is part of the journey to adjust when that time comes."
As Jasmine left the couple to look around the house on their own, the host admitted she was disappointed the property didn’t do it for Patrick.
Speaking to camera, she said: "It’s a real pity. I had high hopes for this place with its fabulous views, but the steep hill makes it a non-starter."
Despite her initial disappointment, Jasmine’s luck was about to turn when she presented them a third property located in the village of Kokkino Horio.
The two-bed villa featured both a private swimming pool and secluded garden – ticking off two important must-haves on their list.
After viewing a fourth and fifth property, the couple asked Jasmine to put in an offer on the third villa, which was listed for £173,000.
However, Patrick told Jasmine to put in an offer £28,000 less than the asking at £145,000.
Jasmine admitted: "It’s a good offer to start with but I don’t know if it’ll be accepted off the bat."
The offer unfortunately was rejected, but the owner came back with a counter-offer of £148,000, which Patrick and Catherine accepted.
After the offer was accepted, Catherine was overcome with emotion as Jasmine congratulated them on their new home.
The presenter asked: "Are you alright, Catherine?"
To which she emotionally replied: "I can’t speak," before hugging her husband.
