A Place in the Sun fans question couple's search in 'abandoned area'

A Place in the Sun fans slammed a couple after they set their budget to find their perfect home.

Property expert Laura Hamilton was helping Lindsay and Ian find their dream home in Spain on Wednesday's episode. The couple were armed with a budget of £60,000 and wanted to move to western Almeria following a recent health scare.

Laura was excited to seek out the perfect home for the couple, but the first home did not appear to go down well. A Place in the Sun fans all took to social media to say the same thing as they slammed the couple's budget.

Despite finding a four-bedroom property with a large sun terrace, many people were quick to comment on the "abandoned" area. One fan said on Twitter: "The town looks abandoned!" as another added: "Stunning? It looks like a moonscape."

@PrickettKenneth added: "These two aren’t buying anything today" as @Samanth22356123 wrote: "£60k and they got one with that view???!!!"

One fan said the property looked "very, very dark" and even the terraced view was also not enough to satisfy viewers as one person said: "More of a roof than a roof terrace to be honest." A fourth said: "For £60k, they're lucky to get a property with walls and a roof."

For Ian and Lindsay, it was however a good start as they said the property had potential, however, concerns were raised that it "lacked character". Despite completely turning down the second property due to it lacking appeal, many people took to social media to claim the couple would not find their perfect home without increasing their budget.

Michelle said: "So first property she asked Laura for something a little less modern for the next property. Laura shows character house next but…Noooooo now she wants more modern! Make your mind up for 60k budget please, lucky to get four walls, a roof, possibly running water."

A second wrote: "Another couple on #aplaceinthesun with naff all to spend. You're coming out all this way for a holiday home! Or is it their forever home? If so, why spend so little?"

However, for Lindsay and Ian things improved as the episode went on as they were shown around several homes and apartments. They eventually found the perfect accommodation in a £60,000 priced apartment, offering up £52,500 which was soon rejected.
