A Place in the Sun fans in disbelief as couple complain over 'small' holiday home

A Place in the Sun fans were left in disbelief after a couple complained to Laura Hamilton over a "small" holiday home.

The TV presenter was challenged with finding Marianne and her partner Anthony their dream property in southern Spain for £50,000.

During the episode, which first aired in 2019, Laura did her best to find the perfect place for the pair, starting out in the Axarquía region.

Marianne and Anthony were not impressed by the one-bedroom townhouse situated in Comares, which was on the market for €49,900.

It offered two living rooms and an open-plan kitchen, as well as a double bedroom, family shower room and a laundry area, but the couple were left puzzled by the lack of space in the holiday home.

Marianne told Laura it was a "bit on the small side" which wouldn't help if she wanted to add more furniture, and the kitchen could "probably do with another window".

Over on Twitter, fans agreed with the couple and their worries over the size of the property.

"I've seen bigger dollhouses," one person joked.

A second laughed: "That hovel offended my eyes! I just hope they get better!"

"Hahahaha! Not enough room to swing a mouse, let alone a cat," a third commented.

Marianne told the host: "It would be a push in this room to actually have the sofa bed. How it's set out now is about how much you could have in this room."

Asked why there was need for a sofa bed, Marianne revealed her daughter and Anthony's son could potentially come and visit them in Spain, and there wouldn't be enough room.

The couple eventually decided it wasn't for them, and fortunately ended up finding their perfect place.

Laura took them to visit a two-bedroom townhouse in Almachar, which they ended up falling in love with.

"We can't walk away from this," Marianne explained to the presenter.

Her partner Anthony agreed: "My knees are shaking."

They quickly made their decision and put in an offer of £50,000, which was accepted.
