A Place in the Sun buyers 'muted' as Ben Hillman forced to 'come clean'

Buyers on A Place in the Sun were "muted" after Ben Hillman "came clean" on today's show.

The expert was helping Andre and Steve find their perfect property in Portugal on Monday's edition of the popular Channel 4 programme. The couple were searching for their dream forever home on the Silver Coast.

Andre and Steve had already sold their home in London and were ready to jet off as soon as possible. They were armed with a maximum budget of £245,000 and were looking for a detached property with a pool.

Ben was delighted to be working with such a healthy budget and the search got off to a rocky start with a three bed house in Obidos. The couple described the renovation project as "daunting" and decided it was not a contender.

Ben was disappointed with their decision as he vowed he wouldn't be able to find another home boasting such breath-taking views. However, the expert was immediately forced to correct himself as they stood outside the second property on their search.

He said: "I've got to come clean because I lied. I said I promised I couldn't get you those views again. Rubbish, of course I can." However, the presenter was taken aback the house-hunters didn't share his initial excitement as he said in the narration their response was "a little more muted than I hoped."

The buyers again ruled out the property as they wanted somewhere that included a pool. They were blown away by the next property on the hunt, which was a three bed villa in Alvorinha.

The home was priced at £245,690 and they eventually secured the villa for £230,000.
