'A phenomenal lady of many talents': Tributes paid to Tesco manager following her tragic death

Tributes have been paid to a hugely popular Tesco manager following her tragic death.

Teresa Gorman was described by colleagues as the 'life and soul' of Tesco Extra in Stretford and had been working throughout the coronavirus pandemic.

She was frequently involved with fundraising and charitable efforts at the Trafford store, and only weeks ago had been helping organise food and present parcels for needy families at Christmas.

Friends and coworkers were left shocked by her sudden death last week and many took to social media to pay tribute.

Keiran Jones posted on Facebook: "You were such a lovely lady RIP Teresa Gorman."

Terri Houlton added: "Such sad news to hear about Teresa Gorman this morning.

The Stretford Tesco Extra has now reopened (MEN MEDIA)

"A beautiful lady inside and out, always with a smile on her face.

"Earth has one less angel, and heaven one more. You will never be forgotten."

Among the good causes that Teresa helped support was Coffee4Craig, the charity that works with homeless people in Manchester city centre.

Risha and Hendrix who run Coffee4Craig told how she would often donate surplus food.

In a post on Facebook they said: "This week we sadly lost one of [our] biggest supporters, Teresa was one of our first donors to support us through her job at Tesco.

"She was one in a billion who had the biggest heart and always thought of us and our guests when she had surplus stock, end of line and leftovers at work.

"She was a phenomenal lady of many talents, running, baking, fundraising and generally an amazing human."

"She will be missed by many and will leave a hole in the world.

"While we are incredibly sad at her passing, we feel blessed to have known her.

"Our thoughts are with her family and friends at this sad time and all the staff, volunteers and our supporters send you our thoughts and condolences."

In a statement, Stretford store manager Andrew Brown said: "We are deeply saddened by the loss of Teresa last week, who worked with us as our customer service manager. Our thoughts are with her family and friends.

"She has been part of the team since 2009 and was the life and soul of the store.

"She cared so much for others and helped organise many fundraising events. She will be greatly missed by colleagues, customers and the community that she served."

Tesco Stretford was closed last week following an outbreak of Covid-19, with a number of staff off work isolating.

It has since reopened following a deep clean.

Tesco declined to give any further details about Teresa's cause of death at this time.
