The owner of a guinea pig has shared a clever and cheap hack to keep flies and other bugs out of pet cages in warm weather.
She said that no matter how often she cleans out her little pet, flies still fly in and pester them but a £1.29 purchase from Home Bargains has solved the problem.
She bought a window screen, designed to let air in but keep flies out, and cut it down to fit the size of her pet cage door.
Since discovering the afforable hack she has shared it on social media where hundreds of other pet owners have praised her creativity.

In Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK group, a shopper said: "Jardin Window Screen £1.29 from Home Bargains today!!
"Forever getting flies in and out the guinea pig cage (even though I change bedding very regularly) so perfect for this and so easy to do!"
Covering the cage doors allows the animals to get fresh air and ventilation without the annoyance of bugs.
One comment said: "Thanks for posting this! Constantly flies getting into my ferret's cage to get at their raw meat. This is perfect!"
Another said: "These look good. I always find flys in the hut"
Flies are clearly an issue for pet owners, especially in warm weather.
One more comment said: "I wish I'd known about this when I had my piggies!! It would have helped them so much, I will remember this if or when I get more!! Thank you"
"Thank you for the tip on this I also have outside rabbits and the flies drive me nuts," added another.
