Sight-seeing spots are trying new ways prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus. One such spot is the Kaikyo Yume Tower, a landmark in Shimonoseki, Yamaguchi Prefecture, which looks down on the Kanmon Strait that separates Honshu and Kyushu.

In front of the elevator to the tower's observation deck, there is a board bristling with many cotton swabs.

Visitors may use a swab to press the elevator's buttons and then toss it straight into the trash. The practice aims to reduce the risk of spreading the virus. Previously, employees of the tower were said to be disinfecting the buttons constantly.

This unexpected thing has seemed to greatly help put visitors at ease.
