Western Australian playwright Nathaniel Moncrieff premieres his latest work, a heart-wrenching piece based on the true story of indigenous Mexican woman, Julia Pastrana.

Theodore Lent is a calculating businessmen at the helm of the travelling freak show in the 19th century. His star attraction is known as the ape woman, because of her genetically-disordered hairy face and protruding jaw. She is also his wife. When she falls pregnant, he couldn’t be happier. Now he’ll have two stars for the price of one. Lent begins taking steps towards a decision that will cost him his friends and his sanity.
