'A nuisance' - Newcastle United fans respond to Miguel Almiron exit claims

Newcastle United fans have reacted angrily to the news that Miguel Almiron could leave the club after comments from his agent.

The Paraguayan forward 's representative has claimed his client would have already left the club had it not been for the global pandemic.

Daniel Campos confirmed Atletico Madrid had scouted Almiron and also claimed spoke about the possibility of a possible exit for Almiron.

The Campos quotes were from radio station Futgol 970 were translated by Paraguayan journalist Roberto Rojas.

"Miguel Almirón was being observed by Atletico Madrid but no offer was made. When everything returns to normal, Miguel will take a leap in quality," Campos said.

"Miguel’s work rate at Newcastle and Paraguay has been great. If it wasn’t for the pandemic, he would’ve been elsewhere. Perhaps he would like to play on a team that has a lot of possession. Maybe in June, he’ll make that jump."

With the news that one of their best-attacking talents is scouting for a move away, Newcastle fans are understandably quite miffed.

Some believe Almiron, who has delivered little in the way of actual goals and assists, is a replaceable asset, whilst others believe Steve Bruce's style of football has led to his desire to move on.

Newcastle host Chelsea at St James' Park on Saturday and all eyes will be on the team sheet to see if Almiron will retain his place in the Magpies' XI or whether his agent's comments have landed him in hot water with the club.
