Jurgen Klopp fielded two different XI's for each half as Liverpool hit the Whites for six with 13 youngsters given their chance to impress the German coach.

There were some familiar youth stars in the line-up and some newcomers to the first team set up invited to take their chance.

Yasser Larouci

Liverpool dominated the first half and Algerian-born Yasser Larouci was a breath of fresh air at left-back.

The 18-year-old burst into life from the moment referee Mike Dean got things underway.

Larouci who signed for the Reds in 2017 was part of Barry Lewtas' side's FA Youth Cup success last term and showed the same attacking desire and defensive nous for the seniors.

The speedy full-back had one thunderous strike deflected for a corner and another saved.

Rhian Brewster

The Under-17 World Cup winner proved himself on the first-team stage in a spectacular 45-minute outing.

Brewster was at the heart of the action from the off as he teed up Nathaniel Clyne who opened the scoring with a rocket of strike.

The Welshman was one of the standout playmaker's in the Championship last season and showed a glimpse of the creativity and control he had in abundance during his Derby County loan.

Wilson played in a pinpoint cross to Brewster who headed home, the 22-year-old has been labelled as worth £25million and could prove a splendid attacking option for Klopp next term.

Vitezslav Jaros

Jaros replaced Simon Mignolet between the sticks, and though the chances were few and far between for Tranmere the Polish shot-stopper showed calmness and maturity in his collection and distrubition.
