'A nice easy one' - James Maddison aims Liverpool jibe before Leicester clash

Leicester City star James Maddison has warned Liverpool his side "have come a long way" since their previous meeting at the King Power Stadium.

The Reds demolished the Foxes 4-0 away from home last season with two goals from Roberto Firmino and one each from James Milner and Trent Alexander-Arnold.

And Jurgen Klopp's side have an impressive record against Leicester, having won 12 of their last 17 Premier League matches against them and winning six of the last seven.

Meanwhile, the Foxes have lost five home Premier League games this season, one more than they lost last season.

Manager Brendan Rodgers has never lost six home league matches in a single season, also losing five in 2009/10 with Reading in the Championship.

However, Liverpool are on a poor run of form in the top flight having lost back-to-back matches for the first time under Klopp and the manager will be looking for his side to bounce back in what is a vital Premier League clash.

The Reds have a chance to take over Leicester in third place with a win.

"It’s a nice easy one at the weekend!" Maddison told the official club website in jest .

"I’ve heard people say it’s probably a good time to play Liverpool.

"They’ve got a fantastic team still. I know they were beaten by Man City 4-1, but they’ve still got a top team and they’ve still got a fit squad, apart from the centre-halves. They’ve got a full attacking line, midfielders and the ‘keeper.

"We’ll be trying to put right the result we had against them at King Power Stadium last year. That was a tough one to take.

"It really showed a difference in class and they went on to become champions. We’ve come a long way since then and hopefully we can put in a good account of ourselves."
