A nextbike was 'thrown off an NCP car park in Cardiff'

A nextbike has apparently been thrown off the top of a multi-storey car park in Cardiff.

The mangled nextbike was found near the Knox Road NCP car park in the city centre on Monday morning (July 1).

It comes amid a spate of vandalism against nextbikes across the city, which means up to 200 have been out of use in recent weeks.

nextbike says it submits a weekly report to South Wales Police and this incident will be included in that.

This nextbike was found in Knox Road (@Gullick)

Krysia Solheim, managing director at nextbike UK said; "The issue of vandalism is being tackled by nextbike, as well as other stakeholders, and we have put measures in place throughout Cardiff to combat this anti-social behaviour as much as we can.

"Although we cannot comment on every incident we remind users that any incidents should be reported to the police who we are working with closely. We are very grateful to the Cardiff community who have rallied around the scheme with messages of support and hope this continues. "

nextbike has introduced new fines for improper use of its cycles which start at £10 for the first incident rising to £20 for the second incident and £30 for the third.

After a third incident of improper use customer accounts will be suspended.

The company has previously said it is spending significant amounts of cash to bring damaged bikes back into use.
