A Newcastle fan's guide to Wembley Stadium - what's inside and all the rules you need to follow

The anticipation is climbing higher by the day for Newcastle United fans with just over a week to go until the Magpies' face off against Manchester United in the Carabao Cup final.

Fans who have been lucky enough to get tickets for the match are making plans in their thousands to go down to London and turn Wembley black and white. Sunday, February 26 will mark the first time Newcastle have played at Wembley since 1999 - and the first time ever that the team has played at the current stadium, which opened in 2007.

For this reason, it might be the first time that many supporters have ever set foot in the iconic venue. Whether you're keen to find out what's available by way of food and drink or want to make sure you follow the rules to keep you on the right side of the stadium on the historic Sunday, here's everything you need to know about Wembley Stadium.

What's inside Wembley Stadium

Food and drink

The stadium promises an "extensive and tasty range" of food and drinks inside. If you're planning to buy anything while you're there, note that the stadium is now completely cashless with only card and contactless payments accepted.

There are draught bars inside serving up a range of beers, hot and cold drinks, handcrafted pies and confectionery, as well as bottle bars offering bottled beers, soft drinks and confectionery. When it comes to food there are stands selling hot dogs, Wicks Manor sausages, chicken and chips, and burgers and chips.

Find out what's near your seat

The Wembley Stadium website has a handy guide for each of its levels so you can see what's around your seat, including the closest food, drink and merchandise stalls, toilets, and first aid and information points.

You can also visit the View From Your Seat tool on the Wembley Stadium website. This nifty tool allows you to click on your block or box to see how the pitch will look from your seat.

Stadium rules for spectators

Standing

Unless you have a ticket for the safe standing area, persistent standing during a match at Wembley Stadium is strictly forbidden. This is a breach of crowd safety as well as potentially affecting the experience of your fellow spectators, particularly children and elderly people, and could result in you being ejected from the ground.

Seating

Supporters must be sure to check that they are seated in the appropriate area of the stadium, or risk missing out on the match. Anyone who is found to be in opposition areas will be ejected from the stadium for breaching the FA's ground regulations, as well as being subject to Newcastle United's own club sanctions process.

Smoking

Smoking is prohibited inside the stadium. E-cigarettes are also banned.

Pyrotechnics

The use of any pyrotechnics, including fireworks, flares and smoke devices, is prohibited both inside and outside the stadium. Anyone caught carrying or using these will be ejected from the stadium and banned from future events, as well as risking police action.

Anti-social behaviour

The stadium also operates a zero-tolerance policy on any form of anti-social and discriminatory behaviour. If you witness any anti-social or discriminatory behaviour on the day, text HELP to 66566 or contact your nearest steward.
