A new West Street coffee shop has opened its doors in Bedminster

A new coffee shop has opened its doors in Bedminster.

The Fix has been welcoming customers for just under four weeks now from its premises in West Street.

The coffee shop is part of a gym which opened earlier this year called 'Trained by BV'.

Owner Ben Vaughan - who has worked as a personal trainer for 17 years - said he had worked in numerous gyms across Bristol over the years, but his long-term plan was to open up his own gym.

Mr Vaughan said: "As part of that, I wanted to have an area where people could meet up before or after training, to have a coffee or a shake, for example.

"It is quite nice addition to have to a gym - after you finish training, there is somewhere to sit down and have something to eat or drink."

The 37-year-old said 'Trained by BV' opened back in January and soon realised that, while North Street was full of coffee shops, West Street didn't have any despite there being apartment blocks near by.

"The coffee shop is not just for people using the gym - it is for anyone," he continued. "Since the lockdown started, the gym has been shut which has given me time to get the coffee shop up and running."

Mr Vaughan said they had had some really good feedback since opening, adding they are planning on having a seating area when that is possible.

They use Clifton Coffee, he continued, as well as having a smoothie menu and selling a variety of pastries, sandwiches and cakes.

When the gym reopens, they are planning on offering a selection of healthier snacks as well as treats.
