A new trainer shop with rare shoes costing up to £2,000 is opening in Manchester

A new flagship trainer store is due to open in the Northern Quarter this summer, selling rare and exclusive kicks worth up to several thousand pounds.

Among the shoes on sale when KershKicks opens on Edge Street will be some of the most sought-after trainers in the world.

Yeezys, Off Whites, and Jordans will all be on sale, plus in-demand collaborations such as Pharrell Williams' Adidas range and Oasis Stan Smiths.

Prices will range from £50 to over £2,000 for the rarer pairs of trainers. KershKicks will also stock hoodies, caps and t-shirts.

There will be a buy-sell-trade area of the business, where collectors can sell unwanted trainers or exchange them for a preferred pair.

The 1300 sq ft shop is taking up the former MadLab ground floor unit, and is being opened by brothers Sam and Ben Kersh, who have spent years learning how to source rare sneakers.

The duo says they are able to source several pairs of trainers from each product launch.

24-year-old Sam first began to trade in footwear when he was playing football for California State University.

He said: "My passion for sneakers/trainers led to me sourcing one pair, then a couple of pairs for friends. It just grew from there.

"In LA the sneaker scene is huge and on my return to the north west I set up a partnership with my younger brother Ben, who has just finished uni in Manchester.

"It's been quite a journey and we are now close to opening our first store."

Ben added: "Selecting a location, we only had one place in mind – the Northern Quarter.

"After months of searching we finally found our ideal location at the end of 2018. Since then we have been working on getting everything in place for our July opening."

Kersh Kicks will open at 36/40 Edge Street in the Northern Quarter later this month. You can follow them on Instagram @kershkicks for the latest.
