A new sports and games bar is opening in Manchester city centre

The team behind Manahatta and Banyan are set to open a new sports bar in Manchester.

Specialising in American-style food, bar games, and live sports screenings, this will be the fourth opening for the Box Bar concept.

A planning application for a large site on Deansgate has now been approved, which will see Box Bar take up a two-storey 8,000 sq ft unit.

There are also hints of an external terrace in the application.

The brand, which is owned by Arc Inspirations, already has sites in Leeds and Liverpool.

The new Manchester branch will open in the recently completed 125 Deansgate, just across from Australasia and the John Rylands Library.

If the existing sites are anything to go by, we can expect to see live sports events shown on giant HD screens, as well as live music events.

Shuffleboard tables, dart boards and karaoke machines are also common features in other Box Bar sites.

Menus are filled with burgers, pizzas, loaded fries, nachos, kebabs and desserts like brownies and bubble waffles.

The bars also serve cocktails on tap, such as espresso martinis.

You'll be able to see the latest updates on the Manchester site by following @theboxbaruk on Instagram.
