A new 'retail pod' will be built in the car park of the Asda superstore in Weston-super-Mare.

It is understood the pod will be used by Timpson and will be located close to the entrance of the supermarket.

The application was signed off by North Somerset Council on April 17.

In a summary document, the officer designated to survey the submission stated that, given the size and location of the pod, it is believed granting permission will be not detrimental to the centre of the town.

Established in 1865, Timpson employs around 5,600 people throughout the UK and Ireland.

The company already has two stores in Weston-super-Mare, located on the High Street and in the Sainsbury's on Queen's Way respectively.
