A new restaurant could be coming to Stokes Croft

A former hair salon in Stokes Croft which has been sitting empty for months could soon open as a new restaurant.

Plans have been submitted to Bristol City Council to transform the former Touch of Class building, which Bristol Live believes closed in July 2018 after 10 years, into a restaurant/takeaway.

The firm behind the popular Burger Theory restaurant in St Stephen’s Street has submitted a planning and licensing application for the site.

However for those of you hoping for a second edition of the popular burger joint in the city, the managing director of the company has said the new site will not trade as a Burger Theory, even though it will be run by the same company.

Instead the business says it is adding a “new concept to its portfolio” which it is “very excited" about.

The planning and licencing application both refer to a restaurant/takeaway so food is still very much on the menu - but we will have to wait until the new year to find out more.

What is Stokes croft?

It's possible it could be a late-night venue as the licence application asks for the eatery to open until 2.30am on the weekend and until 12.30am the rest of the week.

There were plans to transform the site into a sophisticated cocktail bar, but they never materialised.

The full plans, which are currently under consideration, can be viewed by searching for 19/05730/F on Bristol City Council's planning portal.
