A new 'intergalactic' space station bar is opening in Manchester

A few months back it was announced that a new ‘intergalactic’ roller skating venue would be opening in the heart of Manchester. And, ahead of its opening in June, Paradise Skate World has teased more details about what to expect, including its ‘out-of-this-world’ cocktail experience.

The 6,000 sq ft venue will be ‘a cocktail bar with a roller skating element’, and will feature a wooden sprung floor that surrounds the central bar, which will be accessible via a bridge, with 50 to 60 people able to skate at any one time. Described as a ‘space station bar’, it will also include a palm-a-lite installation, creating a mini pier in the middle of the bar.

Sophie-Larissa Houghton, co-founder of Paradise Skate World said: “The idea of this bar is to dock into the space station, where we want to create the imaginary experience of how it feels to be transported to a galactic beach; the place to sip cocktails from the promenade and feel a surge of energy from space skaters as they whizz around you in orbit. If you can imagine ‘spaceship meets beach pier’ then you’re on our wavelength, for bringing one of the best bar experiences to Manchester, at Paradise Skate World.”

The bar’s cosmic, space-themed drinks menu has been created by one of the city’s best known bartenders - Joe White, who has run venues including Gorilla and Hula. The bartender is also behind award-winning Henry C in Chorlton, and he has also teamed up with CBRB (Cocktail, Beer, Ramen, Bun)- to open 10 Tib Lane in the city centre.

Featuring fun ingredients such as ‘cosmic dust’ and ‘violet clouds’, the cocktail list promises to take your tastebuds ‘to another dimension'. Cocktails include Cloud Jumper, a gin-based tipple with Maraska Maraschino, Supasawa and elderflower tonic cordial with a violet cloud, and Paradise Isn’t Always Tropical - a tequila-based cocktail with Del Maguey, Vida mezcal, curacao, cacao blanc and lime.

Paradise Skate World has been described as ‘an explosion in space meets Miami beach, fused with intergalactic fantasy’, and is from the people behind Junkyard Golf. As well as offering up its 'intergalactic cocktails', there will also be a mix of Japanese and Mexican bar snacks to sample.

The UK's first intergalactic skate venue will open off Deansgate in the Great Northern Warehouse complex on Thursday, June 2. Tickets are now available, and you can grab yours here.
