A cannabis oil shop labelled 'the first of its kind' in the UK is opening in Clifton this weekend.
The 'Apple-style' store will be the third Goodbody Wellness opening in the last two months following successful launches in Bath and Cirencester, ahead of a nationwide roll-out.
Launching on Saturday (August 24) the Queens Road outlet will offer a range of 50 products including bath bombs, skincare, muscle rubs, vape oils and coffee.
Goodbody Wellness follows in the footsteps of Mary Jane's coffee shop, which has proved popular since opening on Whiteladies Road in May.
The Somerset-based company’s rapid expansion started at the beginning of 2019 when Chris Jones took over as managing director.
Chris said: "I believe our store and product identity resonates beautifully with those individuals who are keen to learn more about the wonderful world of CBD but also want to see the products logically displayed in a great environment supported by highly-trained staff with a warm and welcoming personality.
"We are passionate about our brand and customer experience. All of our stock is exclusively branded Goodbody Wellness and manufactured to the very highest quality and can only be bought from us.
"Our stock is traceable, tested and offers balance of the endocannabinoid system, which customers love to learn more about.
"Customers will be able to come in, learn about the benefits of CBD and have a very enjoyable experience."
Goodbody Wellness is part of the Sativa Group PLC based in Beckington, Somerset, where all the CBD testing and research takes place at a 200-acre farm.
'Clifton is the perfect place'
Chris told Bristol Live why he was so keen to open the third Goodbody Wellness store in Clifton.
"We are very excited about the opening in Clifton and the store is looking amazing," he said.
"Clifton is the perfect place to launch our third Goodbody Wellness store. It is great to be associated with the city of Bristol and we think it can work extremely well here.
"It is a beautiful city and one that has a really interesting mix of people.
"Retail is not dead, it is ripe for the right product. You just need to give customers a reason to come to a store and we feel we can do that."
What is CBD?
Cannabidiol, or CBD, is a naturally non-psychoactive substance which has seen an explosion of users in the last year.
It is extracted together with more than 100 other nutrients from hemp plants and can help with a variety of conditions from depression and anxiety to fibromyalgia and arthritis, according to many.
It is believed an estimated 300,000 people in the UK are already regularly taking CBD supplements, the majority of which are purchased online.
Goodbody Wellness will open at 75 Queens Road on Saturday, August 24. It will be open Monday-Saturday 9am to 5pm and Sundays 10am to 4pm.
