A mum's dying wish was for her daughter to inherit her jewellery... it's now been stolen

A grieving family has been left devastated after thieves stole a late mum's jewellery that was being saved for her young daughter.

Sian Harrison-Smith was only 42-years-old when she passed away from motor neurone disease in 2017.

The brave mum was first diagnosed with the condition when she was pregnant with her daughter Isabella, who is now seven-years-old.

As Sian approached the end of her life, she asked her family to save several items of deeply sentimental jewellery, so they could be passed on to the little girl when she grew up.

But on Friday, thieves burgled the home of one of her family members in Stockport and stole a safe containing Sian's jewellery, while the family were away celebrating her parents' 50th wedding anniversary.

Now Sian's devastated husband Lee Smith has made an emotional appeal to get the jewellery back, so the family can fulfil Sian's dying wish.

The burglary has been reported to police, and Lee says he is prepared to offer a reward of £2,000 for the safe return of the jewellery and information leading to a conviction.

He says that while the jewellery will not be of significant monetary value if anyone tries to sell it on, its sentimental value is absolutely incalculable.

The stolen jewellery includes a diamond engagement ring, a wedding band with the inscription 'Trust, respect & always my heart', a platinum and diamond eternity ring, and a white gold pearl pendant with three diamond studs.

Lee, from Stockport, said: "Sian chose the things that she wanted saving for her daughter. We all feel absolutely devastated.

"This is the stuff that really, really mattered to my wife and someone might now just get a couple of hundred pounds for it.

"Isabella hadn't seen her mum's jewellery since she passed away. It's a kick in the teeth all round."

The burglary occurred some time between Friday, October 18 and the morning of Saturday, October 19 on Bulkeley Street in Edgeley, Stockport.
