A motorist 'deliberately' drove at a flock of seagulls, killing four

A motorist 'deliberately' drove at a flock of seagulls, killing four of them and leaving one with its wing hanging off.

The shocking incident happened on Llewelyn Avenue in Llandudno in north Wales at 8.30pm on Saturday, June 22.

An eyewitness at the scene claimed the driver "put his foot down" and deliberately drove at the birds.

Four seagulls were killed, another was left with an injured wing.

Ffion Haf Davies, 35, took pictures of the aftermath and posted them online in a bid to track down the driver of the smokey grey vehicle.

She said: "The injuries to the birds was traumatic - their eyes were bulging and the wing of the alive seagull was hanging off."

Officers from North Wales Police were called to the scene and closed the road while the birds were removed.

In a statement, the force said: "We are aware of the horrific incident in Llewelyn Road, Llandudno in which a number of seagulls were killed after reportedly being hit by a vehicle.

"The RSPCA , which has investigative and prosecution powers, has been informed and is looking into the matter."

Alan Davies, a keen birdwatcher from north Wales, shared horrific photos of the incident on Twitter.

Hundreds of people replied in shock.

Sammie said: "That is really sad. The gulls are literally just trying to survive. Why are people so cruel? Clearly deliberate."

Lynda added: "I hope someone has some CCTV or dashcam, whoever did this needs catching."

TV presenter and wildlife expert Chris Packham has also taken to Twitter following the incident.

He retweeted one of Alan's tweets in support of police action which read: "One thousand people have also engaged with this post on Facebook. We need action @NWPolice please."
