'A mistake' - Reading fans bemoan decision to allow midfielder to join Bristol Rovers

Reading fans have bemoaned the decision to allow Josh Barrett to join Bristol Rovers.

Bristol Live understands the attacking midfielder is set to join the Gas following his departure from the Royals.

Reading fans backed him to succeed at Rovers and have questioned the decision to let him leave.

Zac Cologne: Josh Barrett is going to smash it in League One. Will be in the Premier League in no time. Good luck, what a goal against Plymouth that was.

Vitooo: Thought Barrett did well when given a chance. Clearly very talented. One bad game and a manager sacking and he's gone. Shame.

Jamie Gorman: Big mistake letting him go.

Christopher Cordery: At 22 he needs to be playing football. He isn't near the first team now at all, so better off leaving. Shame as I liked him.

Max Cruttenden: Get rid of Mcleary, not this young talented lad. Why do we keep the old on the most wages players? Joke.

James Bremner: Gutted. Can see another Mikel Antonio situation. But all the best, absolute talent.

Gordon Hawkes: That's a big shame.

Ben Martin: Personally see this as a mistake, a loan move could have been a better option. Definitely offered something of benefit.

Jack: Much better than a lot of other players at the club with a very bright future.

Bob Burrowes: Sad to hear this. The Unit is a huge talent but needs first team football. Good luck.

Royal Life: Losing our young talents in favour of game time for players at the end of their careers. Where’s the future of the club?

Sutart: Shame about Barrett, thought he looked quality against Chelsea. Sadly a number of managers have passed on him, and he had some poor loans.

Dan: Barrett gonna be another Fosu. Will go league below or lower and rip it up.

Bowen SZN: Genuinely baffled as to why we're letting Barrett go.

Darren Henwood: Right decision, most importantly for Barrett himself. Unfair to keep him at the club with not much opportunity to develop here as I don't think he would be getting ahead of Swift or Ovie and he can't be kept hoping either player would get injured.
