‘A missed opportunity’: Woman lets man cut her in line at HomeGoods. Then he does something unexpected

A HomeGoods customer has gone viral after sharing a heartwarming moment with a man she let cut in front of her in line.

In a clip that has amassed 71,400 views, TikTok user @clauddliz spoke from her car as she shared how a random act of kindness at HomeGoods knocked her for six.

“I just left HomeGoods, and when I was there, there was an older guy behind me who was just buying a bag of coffee, and I was like, ‘Sir, you can go in front of me; I have a bunch of stuff.’ He’s like, ‘Oh, thank you so much,'” she recounted. “I’m like, ‘Yeah, of course.’ And then he’s like, ‘Come down with me.’ I was like, ‘What?’ He’s like, ‘Come on down; put all your stuff with mine, like load up all your stuff. Come on, be brave.'”

“I’m like, ‘Sir, like that is so kind; thank you, but like I cannot accept that.’ He’s like, ‘Come on, come load all your stuff up.’ I’m like, ‘Sir, thank you so much, but like, I cannot.’ I was buying a $100 comforter, so I would be mortified if somebody ever had to buy that.”

While she declined his offer, @clauddliz said she was inspired by this random act of kindness. “It was just so sweet, and I was like, ‘This is my sign to be super kind today,’ and just everybody’s sign to go be brave and go be kind, and yeah, that’s all. How sweet.”

The TikToker didn’t immediately respond to The Mary Sue’s request for comment via TikTok comment.

What did commenters think?

Commenters were mostly delighted by the exchange. “As an elderly person I enjoy acts of kindness,” one wrote. “We remember others because we now have the time and funds to do so. It is a special reward of ageing.”

“Let people take care of you, it blesses them and makes their heart happy,” a second said.

A third added that “it would have pleased him so much to have done that for you,” followed by a heart emoji.

“When someone offers, take it,” a fourth advised. “You deprived the guy from a big blessing. Never overthink. Universe sent him to pay for your stuff.”

“Aww,” a fifth cooed. “Two sweet souls.”

Elsewhere, however, a sixth commenter was skeptical. “Before we understood the level of my dad’s on-and-off dementia, he would do this regularly,” they explained.

“I took care of his bills and was surprised by his increase in expenses. Grateful he had the money to do this a few times and I’m sure he had moments of joy sharing his life success but he didn’t really know what he was doing and didn’t remember doing it.”

T.J. Maxx customer gets an additional $100 taken off a discounted chair

It seems like T.J. Maxx/HomeGoods customers have had a streak of good luck recently. Back in October, TikToker Nikki (@nikkitalktictok) went viral after revealing how she managed to snag a chair worth $500 for just $250.

In the clip, Nikki filmed herself walking around HomeGoods. “Guys, I’m shaking right now. I’m at HomeGoods, and there’s a chair here that I want. It was over $500,” she said. “It’s now on clearance for $350. I think I’m gonna try to get them down another $100.”

She then spoke to an employee and asked them if the chair is likely to go down further, and they responded by checking with their manager.

Then, Nikki speaks to the manager directly. While the manager advised her that she could get a TJX card, which could help discount the price further, the TikToker ended up getting a discount regardless, with the manager taking off an extra $100.

“I’m gonna go ahead and give you a $100 discount,” the manager said. “I will reduce the price. But it’s good to sign so you can get that hundred.”

“Thank you so much,” Nikki responds. “You made me so happy.”
