Upcoming drama A Million Little Pieces has released a gritty new trailer.
The film stars Kick Ass star Aaron Taylor-Johnson as a struggling addict undergoing huge physical change, in a performance directed by his real-life wife Sam Taylor-Johnson.
The pair met when the then Sam Taylor-Wood directed Aaron Johnson for his breakthrough performance as John Lennon in Nowhere Boy.
Based on the best-selling but controversial novel by James Frey, the film's footage shows off the actor in his dark new role, which looks set to make uncomfortable but gripping viewing.
The official plot synopsis reads as follows.
An alcoholic and a drug addict, 23-year-old James has two options: treatment or death. After waking up on a plane with a smashed-up face and no memory of the past few weeks, he heads to rehab where he discovers much more than detox and therapy.
As James endures the white-knuckle journey of mending his broken body, he heals his broken soul by connecting with other kindred spirits who also yearn and fight for a better life.
We have also been treated to an ominous new poster for the film.

The film also features performances from Billy Bob Thornton, Juliette Lewis, Giovanni Ribisi, and Odessa Young.

A Million Little Pieces is released in UK and Irish cinemas on August 30, 2019.
