One of the cooler aspects of any league’s All-Star weekend is seeing all the players from different teams interact. During the regular season, they’re competitors and rivals. But for one weekend, they put all that aside and collectively enjoy the experience.
We saw that when Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and Fernando Tatis Jr. gave Juan Soto a pep talk before his Home Run Derby swing-off against Shohei Ohtani. It was legitimately fun to see three players from three different teams just cheer each other on.
Well, according to Red Sox star J.D. Martinez, Yankees ace Gerrit Cole did not shut off the Yankees-Red Sox rivalry for the weekend. Instead, he gave the Sox players the silent treatment.

Mic’d-up video from MLB showed Martinez joking with Teoscar Hernandez and Vlad Jr. about how Cole ignored the Red Sox players on the bus.
Martinez said that Xander Bogaerts and Rafael Devers tried to say hello to Cole, and Cole just kept on walking like he didn’t hear anything.
As Twitter pointed out, Bob Gibson used to feel the same way about the All-Star Game.

He wasn’t there to make friends. But still, Cole could have at least acknowledged their existence when they said hello — that’s just basic decency.
