A member of the Reds’ grounds crew hilariously got swallowed up by the rain tarp after slipping

Rain tarp mishaps happen to the best of grounds crews and the Cincinnati Reds are no exception.

On Monday, the Reds home tilt against the San Francisco Giants was called to a halt in the top of the eighth inning as a storm was blowing through the area. As a result, the Reds’ grounds crew had to bring out the tarp to preserve the field for a possible restart later in the evening.

Unfortunately, one member of the Reds’ grounds crew slipped and fell on the tarp as the team were covering the field! The poor grounds crew member was then swallowed by the tarp as the rest of their team continued to move across the field.

Ouch! Thankfully, the grounds crew member escaped its clutches in the end but still, it’s never fun to be caught in the tarp like that. Shoutout to the Giants’ broadcasting crew for the hilarious play-by-play of the moment as well.

Not only that, the Reds’ grounds crew had to fight with the wind to finally get the tarp secured.

What a night for the grounds crew in Cincinnati!
