Re men crying in films (Real men sob in spandex: wrestling movie The Iron Claw and the power of tears, 15 January), see Benediction by the late, great Terence Davies, which ends with several minutes of a young Siegfried Sassoon, alone on a park bench, gradually failing to control the weight of loss and misery. Jack Lowden looks straight at you, and I couldn’t look away from his snotty, crumpled face. Masterly.
