Does opening your inbox every morning incite a queasy feeling of anxiety? Do you find it easy to focus on reactive tasks like email and other busywork, but hard to make time to do your best work? If so, you’re not alone. Our email addiction is real—and it’s only getting worse.

Studies have shown that 81% of workers check their email outside of work, almost 60% monitor email on vacation, and 55% check it after 11pm on a regular basis. When we’re at our desks it only gets worse. We often tend to let our email - and other people’s demands - dictate our mood, our focus, and our to-do list.

This masterclass, with writer Jocelyn Glei, will teach you how to break free from your email and social media addiction, to build habits that minimise distractions, and allow you to prioritise your creative ambitions on a daily basis.

During the class you’ll learn about the psychology behind our addiction to email. You’ll discover tips for reducing the amount of time, energy, and anxiety spent on your inbox and other time-wasting distractions. Plus, key strategies for effective email etiquette in a world where everyone is busy: how to write messages people pay attention to, how to deal with unwanted inquiries, and how to set boundaries and say no.

This class will teach you how to

  • Understand the psychology that drives our email addiction so that you can create boundaries and say “no” to time-wasting distractions
  • Deploy research-backed strategies for building a daily email routine that will make you more productive and less stressed
  • Cut through the noise and efficiently process your inbox based on the people and priorities that matter—your boss, big-deal clients, key colleagues
  • Email etiquette for an A.D.D. world: How to pitch, respond, and manage people via email in a world where everyone is busy and attention is scarce
  • Walk away with a cheat sheet of the latest apps, tools, and tricks will help you streamline your email routine and reduce inbox clutter
