'A Manchester United hero': Fans go wild as Jesse Lingard breaks West Ham hearts with stunning winner

What drama!

Jesse Lingard grabbed an 89th-minute winner against West Ham - the club he performed so well for on loan last season - with a brilliant curling effort to seal three huge points for Manchester United.

Lingard, who came off the bench, atoned for his error in United's 2-1 defeat in the Champions League fixture against Young Boys, where a sloppy pass gifted Theoson Siebatchieu with the opportunity to win the game in the 95th minute.

The 28-year-old's goal looked likely to be cancelled out minutes later when West Ham were awarded a penalty for a Luke Shaw handball deep into injury time.

However, David de Gea made an outstanding save from a Mark Noble penalty - the captain's first touch after coming off the bench - to continue United's brilliant run in the league this season.

And United fans have shared their jubilation about Lingard's winning effort on Twitter.

United fans are over the moon with the academy product who had a brilliant spell at West Ham on loan last campaign.

Following growing speculation that Lingard's future at Old Trafford is in doubt, an impact like that will surely make Ole Gunnar Solskjaer think twice about allowing him to move on next summer.
