A Manchester nightclub has become a 'nightpub' - and is throwing a sit-down disco

With nightclubs still closed up and down the country, it's looking like it's going to be a while before we'll be back on the dancefloor.

But one Manchester club has come up with a novel solution to the current restrictions - by reopening as a 'nightpub' instead.

Venue, on Jackson's Row in the city centre, is operating as a bar for the time being while social distancing rules remain in place.

And it's even managed to adapt its usual calendar of events - by throwing sit-down discos instead of club nights.

The next event is an Arctic Monkeys disco on Friday, with a strictly table bookings only policy and dancing only allowed at your seat.

Tables are available for between two and six people, who must all be from the same household under the current rules for Greater Manchester.

The club says on ticket site Skiddle : "For everyone's safety and to ensure we remain Covid secure, you must follow our house rules.

"You MUST stay seated throughout the event, we know it's hard, but just practice your best sit down dance moves.

"If we have to ask you multiple times we will have to ask you to leave. The music will also be quieter than usual and it'll be a bit brighter than a usual club night.

"The safer we all are the more events we can put on!"

Customers will need to order drinks via a website, where their contact details will be stored for 21 days for NHS Track and Trace purposes. A cashless payment system is also in operation for the time being.

Venue is also hosting events including a music bingo night and a smartphone quiz.

When there's no DJ on, they've also got a free jukebox with tracks available to request from your table.

Tickets are required for the sit-down discos and music bingo nights, but for all other events people can just turn up, provided tables are available.

Reservations are also available for a £5 deposit per table, which is knocked off your first round on the night.
