A Manchester bar is hiring someone to eat kebabs - and paying them £500

Loosen your belts - a bar chain with three Greater Manchester sites is hiring someone to eat kebabs.

The Botanist chain, which has 19 branches nationwide including ones in Manchester city centre, MediaCityUK and Didsbury, will pay the successful candidate £500 to try the four new hanging kebabs being added to its menu.

The new recruit will also receive a year's worth of hanging kebabs.

They'll be tasked with tasting the newest skewers, which include chicken and chorizo, five spice duck with hoisin sauce, and surf and turf.

There's also a new vegan version made with Tofurkey sausages.

James Scott, executive chef at The Botanist, said: “We reviewed our entire vegan offering across our brands, and it was only natural this would lead to a vegan version of our most loved dish. I’m excited for even more people to be able to enjoy our kebabs.”

The successful candidate will be invited to taste a variety of the hanging kebabs and help staff decide on the best side dishes, condiments and drinks to pair with them.

They'll also have the chance to create their own hanging kebab special to be served at their local Botanist bar next spring.

As well as being paid £500 for their time, the winner will also be able to claim a free hanging kebab meal for two every month in 2020 - plus a bonus pancake kebab on Shrove Tuesday.

Candidates can apply via The Botanist's website or email hangingkebabs@thebotanist.uk.com.
